strong leadership and life skills.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO? This fundraiser is organized by the Girl Scouts of Utah Oquirrh Service Unit, also known as Oquirrh Community Girl Scouts, to benefit Girl Scouts of Utah. Monies raised go to support Girl Scout activities and programs throughout the state and help girls gain strong leadership and life skills, as Girl Scouts of Utah has done for nearly 90 years. Since our first race in 2004, we've donated more than $17,000 and also purchased a horse for Trefoil Ranch, a local Girl Scout camp.

Girl Scouts: (1) Build courage, confidence, and character; (2) Develop leadership skills; (3) Serve their communities; (4) Learn to acquire a wide variety of skills.

The Walking Day 5K (VIRTUAL RACE)
Did you know that April 5, 2017 is National Walking Day? We thought we’d celebrate with THE WALKING DAY 5K, with inspiration from one of our favorite shows, The Walking Dead! We want y’all to get out there and walk a 5K, and walk it faster than any zombie that might come after you!

We also have another big goal we want to accomplish with this. The earth is 40,030 kilometers around, so it would take exactly 8,006 people, walking a 5K, to walk the distance around the earth. Let’s do this people! To celebrate National Walking Day, let’s get enough people to WALK AROUND THE WORLD! Who’s in?

7th Annual Pay It Forward 5k/1 mile Challenge
The Pay It Forward 5k/1 mile Challenge is a community event hosted by the Payson City Employee Wellness Committee. It is our way to Pay It Forward to the community. The event is open to EVERYONE ... all ages and abilities. You do not have to live in Payson to participate.

The registration fee is kept low to encourage as many participants as possible to join in the fun. Each participant receives a medal, certificate and name in a drawing. The fun run/walk is held to encourage all ages and abilities to become more active. In efforts to help families afford to participate together, we have kept the registration fee to a $1 per person.

After the run/walk participants receive their medal packet, fruit, water and enjoy a local band performance while waiting for the prize drawing announcement. This event has become a community event and draws over 1000 participants.

Many hours spent on preparing for the event are volunteered by employees, residents and students from High Schools and Junior High Schools in Payson and Salem.
