Woodland Hills Yeti
Nestled at the foot of Loafer Mountain is a community comprised of anything but loafers. People living here enjoy all the extremes of life, from the extreme peace of the quiet wooded mountain to the extreme levels of snowfall (over 150” per year) and wildlife including bear, deer, elk, coyotes, fox, wild turkeys and an occasional cougar.
Your race starts at the base of this mountain. Whether running, or biking, your path will elevate quickly (1100-1300 foot gain). Then you will trade for snowshoes, and follow the switchbacks cut into the mountain by an old prospector named Shocky, complete with an authentic mine shaft. You will traverse Loafer Mountain (gaining another 1110 feet), ending about 1/4 of the way up with Utah Valley laid out before you. As you experience the breathtaking views (literally), you’ll quickly find out why we’re the best kept secret in the Valley.

Antelope Island Buffalo Run 25K, 50K, & 50 Mile and 100 miles
Up for a challenge on Antelope Island? Try one of these races with the beautiful scenery of Antelope Island. The start for all four races is at White Rock trailhead. The 25K and 50K are the same, and the 50 mile and 100 mile are the same, for the longer races you just go around the course again. Oh, by the way, the courses will remain the same as 2011 if you’ve run out here before
The elevation gain for each trip around is about 2000’ for the 25k and 50k.
The elevation gain for each trip around the course for the 50 miler and 100 miler is about 3800’, so the 50 mile actually has less gain than the 50K. No wonder people say the 50K is tougher.
Start times for each racea are as follows:
100 mile – This race will start at noon (that’s 12:00pm) on FRIDAY, March 23rd.
50 mile – This race will start at 6:00am on SATURDAY, March 24th.
50K – This one starts at 8:00am, so you get to sleep in a little bit
25K – This one will start at 8:30am, so you get to sleep in AND eat breakfast, plus finish a little early
All of you will have until 6:30pm on SATURDAY March 24th to finish up your fun and games.
Addition Race Information
The entry fees are as follows:
25K – $58.92 early $68.92 after Jan 31, 2012
50K – $69.43 early $79.43 after Jan 31,2012
50 mile – $77.21 early $87.21 after Jan 31, 2012
100 mile – $154.39 early $164.39 after Jan 31, 2012
There is a limited number of entries for each race:
25K – 300 runners
50K – 200 runners
50 mile – 125 runners
100 mile – 75 runners
Here are the cutoff times:
100 mile – If you can’t finish the first trip around the course by 4am (16 hours), we’re going to pull you. That’s the first cutoff. Here’s the other absolute cutoffs:
Ranch – 2:30pm
Lower Frary – 3:30pm
There are no refunds after February 1st. Before that, we’ll send you your money back, although why you would want to back out of this race is beyond us. Due to the ability to enter up to Feb. 14th, there will be no waiting list. If you wait until after Feb. 14th, tough luck. Also, please don’t ask to switch names with someone else if you can’t run. It gets too confusing for the timers (and the race director, who is easily confused) to switch names and races. If you can’t run, then get your money back by Feb. 1 and tell your friend to enter before Feb. 14th.
Also, don’t ask to rollover your entry. Won’t happen mainly because the entry fees associated with the race stay with the race, plus it just confuses the race director (he’s easily confused)
There will be places for drop bags during the race and numereous aid stations that will be stocked with supplies. Enjoy!

Sand Hollow Marathon
Welcome to Sand Hollow folks, the best out-and-back course in Utah. Yeah, I said out-and-back. Do you know what’s so great about and an out-and-back? You get to see all your new friends again! You also get to see who is gaining on you if you are “dropping the hammer” at the turn, and lastly you get to see those guys in the Batman and Roman Gladiator costumes one more time so that you can high-five them as you speed back to the finish!
At Sand Hollow you will start out at the Hurricane Community Center, run out through the town, and with only three miles under your fuel belt find yourself running along pasture and farmland where you may be cheered on by a cow, horse, or a jackrabbit.
You will drop into the backside of the Sand Hollow State Park where you get to scream down the famed and feared “El-Diablo Sand Hollow” hill that will challenge you mentally as you return to scale it later in the race – out and back, remember? This is the “big hill” that you have heard some much about- just remember you are running down it – run it fast.
Next you wind through gorgeous views of Sand Hollow on your right and red sand dunes with red rock on your left- picture time folks; it’s awesome in this stretch of gentle rollers here. The road will take you to the Sand Hollow golf course –where if you can keep your eyes off the spectacular greens, and the awesome view of Pine Valley you may notice that you just hit 13.1- time to turn around and head for home.
On your way back you will be treated to the same awesome scenery and you start a gradual climb that end with your assault on El-Diablo at mile 18. I won’t lie to you- El-Diablo is hard, over a 500 foot climb in about a mile- but here’s the good news runners: After the hill-hell, it’s all downhill to the finish. And besides do we really need another “down-hill” marathon in Utah? Think of the mental boost you will have after kicking old El-Diablo in the teeth on your way in to picking up one of the coolest medals in the west!
This is not a Boston-Qualifier, This is not a “fast” course, but this IS a fun, beautiful, challenging course that you will want to run every year. You will meet some of the coolest runners on the planet and make some amazing friendships here! (I don’t know why, but really, really awesome, friendly runners are attracted to the Sand Hollow). I welcome you into our family and our elite group group of folks with the skill and the will to tackle a course that will challenge you- and isn’t that why we run in the first place?
