Ford Ironman St. George
Ironman St. George is set to take place in St. George, Utah. The swim will be held at Sand Hollow Reservoir and the bike and run course offers spectacular views of downtown St. George, Snow Canyon and Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.

Ironman athletes hardly need to be reminded of how much dedication, time and support is required to finish a 2.4 mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a marathon run. Many will proudly display pictures of their achievement in their offices at work and around their home.

An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) consisting of a 2.4 miles (3.86 km) swim, a 112 miles (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26 miles 385 yards, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break.

All Ironman events have a strict time limit of 17 hours to complete the race. The Ironman race starts at 7 AM. The mandatory swim cut off for the 2.4 mile swim is 2 hours 20 minutes. The bike cut off time is 5:30 PM. All finishers must complete their marathon by midnight.

Spring Run-Off-Challenge
Lincoln Academy is hosting its annual 10K, 5K and mile run fitness challenge May 5, 2012. Our fitness runs are the culmination of a fitness week held at the school to educate and promote a healthy lifestyle. The runs are used as a fundraiser to generate capital to invest into the athletic programs offered at the school. Because the school is a charter school, the sports teams participate in city related programs and are headed up by parents or teachers as after-school clubs or teams. For this reason, fundraisers and parental contributions generate funds for the clubs and sports teams.

Linda Buttars served on the Healthy West Jordan Committee for 7 years, four of which she was chairperson. Under her coordination, the event increased by 100 participants each year and has become the huge success that it is today. Linda passed away on November 4, 2006. The City Council approved a Resolution renaming the “Decked in Red” Family Run & Walk to be the “Linda Buttars Memorial Fun Run”.
