Freedom Festival Freedom Run 10K, 5K, 1 Mile
We hope that part of you Independence Day celebration includes our Freedom Run 10K, 5K or the Mayor’s one mile Fun Run. The annual run has become an integral part of America’s Freedom Festival as thousands of participants at all levels and abilities join this invigorating event. We did some inquiry about the history of the Freedom Run and have come to the conclusion that the Freedom Run has been held in Provo since about WWII. If you have any information about the early history of the Freedom Run, we would love to hear from you.
These past several years have been really fun! The race has improved each year and the number of runners has increased as well. We believe that there is a possibility that we will have 5,000 runners this year. Now wouldn’t that be an awesome sight! Tell your friends! let’s break 5,000.
We encourage you to get decked out in patriotic garb for the run. We have seen a lot of great costumes and would love to see more. Did you see “Uncle Sam” on stilts running the race last year? Give us some Red, White and Blue!
Addition Race Information
The 10K starts at 7:00 AM. The start is conveniently located at the finish line.
The 5k will start at 7:00 AM. As the start is a few minutes walk away from Kiwanis Park, you need to plan on walking southwest of Kiwanis at least 10-15 minutes before 7:00AM. The 5k start line will close 8 minutes after the gun. If you start later than that, you won’t get a chip start time.
The 1 Mile event is scheduled to start at 7:00 AM. We may start it a couple of minutes late if the 10K crowd is spilling over onto the 1M course.
We made arrangements with two registration sites this year. Active.com is a great site, but it is a bit expensive with a +$3.25 processing fee per runner. Raceit.com is a bit cheaper with a $15 race processing fee of 1.90 and a $25 race processing fee of $2.50 for credit card payments. If you want to avoid all registration fees, use raceit.com and choose ‘pay by check”. Of course you will have to send in a check to complete your registration, but you won’t have any additional fees.
Late registration will take place at Hogi Yogi on the corner of Bulldog and University Avenue in Provo on July 3rd from noon till 7:00 pm. You may also register on July 5th at the Kiwanis Park pavilion, but remember that registration will end at 6:00 am. Shirts and other goodies are not promised with late registration.

Run 13 Hobbler Half Marathon - 5K
Run13 is proud to invite you to the 2010 Inaugural Hobbler Half Marathon, half marathon relay, and 5k! This gentle, downhill half marathon course is perfect for the rookie half marathoner and a great way for the experienced runner to achieve a new PR. The start line begins up the left fork of Hobble Creek Canyon and loops around Springville City to finish inside Arts Park. As always, the race will be chip timed for ultimate accuracy and there will be plenty of massage therapists at the finish line to loosen up those hard-working muscles. Great food, music and entertainment await you at the end so be sure to invite the entire family along. Overall top winners receive handsome cash prizes and top three finishers in each age division will be awarded medals. You won’t want to miss out on this Inaugural event!
Not quite ready for a half-marathon yet? Well what better way to train for next year’s Hobbler Half by running the Hobbler 5k, which follows the exact same last 3 miles of the Half Marathon course! And of course, all 5k participants are chip timed, receive Tech Shirts, treated to post-race massages and Magelby’s Fresh breakfast at the finish line party. Medals will be awarded to top 3 finishers in each age division with cash prizes going to top overall winners. We are pulling out all the stops to make this the best run13 event yet, so lace up those running shoes and register now!
The 5K will start at 7:30 AM at Arts Park – 700 S. 1300 E. Springville, UT.
In addition to the individual Hobbler Half Marathon is a competitive two-person relay that will follow the same course. Each teammate will run approximately half of the distance, which is just over 6.5 miles per leg. There will be an exchange point set up at the midpoint of the route. Here is how it works: both team members are invited to check in at the start line on race morning. After runner 1 begins, runner 2 drives his/her car to the exchange point. After the exchange, runner 1 drives back to the start/finish line.
Addition Race Information
Half Marathon Start: the actual start is at the top of the left fork of Hobble Creek canyon. Buses will take runners up to the start from the finish line the morning of the race. The finish line will be at the Springville Arts Park at 620 South 1350 East, just north of the Springville High School.
