Description of Race Events
Instead of running in the heat of mid-morning, ever wanted to run a half marathon race in the middle of the night, under a full moon? You can get your chance at the fourth annual running of Utah's Mapleton Moonlight Half Marathon, which is run in the thick of summer but at night, so the air should be cooled off by the time runners begin their race, between 9:00 and 10:00 PM in the evening.
Planned as a fundraising event for the Mapleton Lateral Canal Parkway Trail -- a paved trailway for running, walking, cycling and hiking that will stretch from nearby Springville at the Hobble Creek Parkway Trail to Spanish Fork, just north of Mapleton -- the race is open to a maximum of 700 entrants, and follows a point-to-point course that starts on Canyon Drive, near the intersection with Left Fork Hobble Creek Road, and finishes at Ira Allen Park in Mapleton.
