Description of Race Events
The First Annual sPECial 5K will take place on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 8:00 am in Salt Lake City, UT. The date marks the beginning of International Sarcoma Awareness Week, an internationally coordinated week of events sponsored by the Team Sarcoma Initiative. Thousands of people will come together to raise money for sarcoma research, build awareness and support patients and their families.
Runners will start at the Big Field Pavilion in Sugarhouse Park, 1300 East 2100 South, complete 2.5 laps or 3.1 miles around the park road and finish across from the Highland Athletic Field. Medals will be given to the top finishers in the Men's, Women's and Youth categories.
All participants are asked to donate a minimum of $20 paid upon registration. This donation will include a t-shirt, bracelet, and snacks/water after the race. 100% of the funds received will directly fund specific research in order to find treatments and cures for sarcomas and rare cancers. All donations are accepted through the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund in Boston, MA.
Additional Race Information
Race day registration will be available starting at 7:00 am. We will do our best to ensure everyone receives a t-shirt and bracelet. However, quantity of t-shirts and bracelets cannot be guaranteed for registrations received after July 3rd. |
